Pretty Thing: The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree
One of the most famous—and highly anticipated– pretty things during the holiday season is the annual tree lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in New York City. Talk about a spectacular holiday event!
Since 1933, the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree has been a New York City must-see during the holiday season. The Rockefeller Plaza , which leads up to the tree, is ornately decorated and the tree overlooks the famous Rockefeller Center skating rink. The site of the tree is visited by millions of people every year.
This year, the tree is an 8 ton, 72 foot Norway spruce. The tree lighting ceremony takes place on December 3rd.
